Dj Hell

Techno Pioneer and Icon of German Electronic Music DJ Hell (Helmut Geier) began his DJ career in 1978 and became a pioneer of house and techno in Germany. In 1987, he hosted Munich’s first acid house party and held residencies at legendary clubs like Ultraschall, Tresor, and E-Werk. His eclectic style merged genres such as new wave, electro, hip hop, and techno, positioning him as a central figure in the evolution of European club culture.

In 1997, he founded International Deejay Gigolos, a groundbreaking label central to the rise of electroclash and avant-garde electronic music. He discovered and launched artists like Fischerspooner, Miss Kittin, and Vitalic. Albums such as Munich Machine and Teufelswerk cemented his signature sound—rooted in krautrock, synthpop, and conceptual electronic aesthetics

Beyond music, DJ Hell has collaborated with fashion giants such as Versace, Raf Simons, and Michalsky, and worked on design projects with brands like Agent Provocateur and Freudenhaus. He has headlined global festivals like Loveparade, Montreux Jazz, and Fuji Rock, and was named “Man of the Year” by GQ in 2003. He currently serves as curator for the upcoming Museum of Modern Electronic Music (MOMEM).
