Last weekend we presented a three-day Warsaw event in collaboration our good friends at Białystok’s Up To Date Festival. Thanks to Up To Date, the artists and audience who were part of this wonderful event, as well as Jasna 1 for hosting us. Mobile as always, it’s now time to announce another Unsound event coming up, in Baku in Azerbaijan on June 1st and 2nd.
This event is part of Unsound Dislocation, a unique ongoing project taking place between 2016 and 2018 in the Caucasus, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as New York and London, and presented in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut. The idea of Unsound Dislocation is to drive events and activities in various locations around the world, exploring the topic of dislocation and the relationship between the so-called “center” and the “periphery”.
Concerts, club nights and artist talks will be held within the framework of Unsound Dislocation: Baku. German based Lebanese musician Rabih Beaini will perform both live in Church of the Saviour, as well as a DJ set in the club program. Australian audio-visual maestro Robin Fox will also perform in the church, combining sound, and laser in the spectacular show called Single Origin, which was commissioned by Unsound and premiered in Krakow in 2017. The club program will take place across two nights at Sintetik, presenting a host of artists coming to Baku for the first time, including Berliners Errorsmith and Kangding Ray–both playing live – Kazakhstan’s Nazira and Polish Unsound resident DJ Olivia. Local artists will include Hazi Karim, Toghrul, Naschkatze and Leo Hazree to give a taste of the Baku scene. The program will also include daytime artist talks and more. All Unsound Dislocation: Baku events will be free of charge.
Final locations for the Unsound Dislocation project will be announced soon. Also, a reminder that Unsound Krakow 2018 takes place from 7th until 14th October. The theme will be announced soon – so stay tuned! In the meantime, you can sign up to our Facebook event page here.
